my mom's parents (grandpa gene & grandma dode) live in washington, not too far from us, so we get to visit often. my grandma is fighting her fourth round of cancer so the girls definitely know who she is. sophie's prayers always include "thankful for grandma dode." this was the first time we had seen them in a year and a half so it was like introducing "grandma dode" for the first time. they were pretty excited.
i will always remember my grandparents for having the best lawn ornaments (animals) and summer sausage (but that's another story).
my grandpa did not disappoint when he started up the tractor.
a princess must ride a tractor in style.
then it was inside for some play time. grandma also has the best basket of flea market toys you've ever seen.
we knocked them out. actually, we drove around the dairy queen parking lot 3 times until they fell asleep so we could eat our blizzards in peace. Ü
now grandpa gene is always mentioned in our prayers as well. i don't think they'll forget that day.
