sophie turned four on may 16th, and had been talking about it for months. she knew she wanted a pink strawberry cake with pink candles and a "big jessie doll" (from toy story). she's not too hard to please if you ask me.

so even though we made the kitchen and the hallway "festive" for her...

... the rest of the house pretty much looked like this.

we had family coming in 2 days, were packing the truck in 3 and flying out in 5, but we made the day special for her.

her jessie dreams came true thanks to my mom and grandma. then her and piper played tea party and polly pockets for literally hours. (that was my dream come true).

and there's always time for a new birthday movie.

she asked for her favorite spaghetti for dinner and of course pink strawberry cake. (i know i know, i'm such a fabulous cake decorator... at least it tasted good!!)

sophie is the sweetest girl. she's so obedient (i always knew she would be when she was born exactly on her due date!) and always willing to help anyone. the past couple weeks i've heard her playing with piper or holding her hand down the stairs and saying, "i love you piper. i'm your best friend!" and they really are best friends. on sunday i watched her march up to the front of the chapel to sing a song with the primary kids for father's day. i guess she doesn't need me to hold her hand for everything anymore. woah.
i think heavenly father knew i needed a baby like sophie first. someone who could challenge me (still trying to block out those first colicky months) so that i could grow stronger and appreciate being a mother from all of her good moments everyday. sophie definitely makes me proud in every way. of course we still have moments where we butt heads but she is the best little buddy i could ever ask for. and i'm so happy piper has her to look up to for a big sister. ooo i love her.
and i guess she finally looks her age (even if she wears "girls" clothing now and by-passed 5T as a 3-yr-old, ahh!).
sophie's favorite things at age four:
*peanut butter sandwiches and apples
*wall-e
*making friends at the park
*gardening with bobo & grandpa rob
*sunbeams with henry
*playing in the pool
*angry birds on the i-pod
*purple, red, pink, gold, white
*"working" next to grandpa = writing words
*writing "poop" on everything (she tricked me into teaching her that word) potty mouth
*netflix movies in the mailbox
*telling her very imaginative stories before bedtime
*ballerina jammies
*matching aunt brook in every way possible
*wearing her princess crown everywhere, literally
