we tried a little recreation of this and i love it.
my baby girl is one. if you know me, you know just how un-sentimental i can be. landen remembers the details and the dates in our relationship. my roommates in college always thought i had a problem because i rarely cried about anything. i would sarcastically make fun of things before i would ever feel something deep enough to cry about it.

then i had kids. and they wrapped their little selves around my heartstrings. and i guess... now i cry on their birthdays. privately, of course. i could make excuses and say it's because i'm remembering what labor was like on this same day, but- they really just pull every nostalgic bone out of my body.

sitting here thinking about how i used to snuggle tiny piper as a newborn and now she's over standing in the middle of the room saying "hi dad" on my cell phone. ugh... why does the first year have to have so many milestones? can't they just stay teeny a little bit longer? i don't know what i would do if i couldn't capture it all in pictures.

the scrunchie face
big girl has a bash planned for tomorrow with her little buddy khloe who has the same birthday. there should be lots of fun cake smashing.

isn't she the cutest squatter? she's got it down pat.

she finally loves the grass. must be a mature one-year-old thing.

and i know if piper could choose, she would make sure we talked about soph on her birthday. can't you tell?

big sister (she's having a rough time understanding why it's not her birthday again. she helped wrap presents last night, hope that helped).

(apparently the "3" parking spot gets used a lot more than the "1" around here).
and a little one-year-old trivia about the pipester. (i got the idea for the collage from my crazy talented friend. thanks libs.)

a few of our piper's favorite things...
walking!! it's turning into the #1 form of transportation for her
following sophie everywhere
the fridge farm
"talking" on the phone
rocking out in the car, or when any music comes on
ba-ba (bottles-- which we're trying to kick)
all food, especially if it's in mom's hand or on mom's plate
mom (she's a mama's girl)
signing times... with alex and leah
laughing at sophie
climbing in and out of the lovesac 100 times in 10 minutes
pulling the toilet paper off the roll and shredding it into a thousand pieces
holding out her hands, making the scrunchie face, and saying "uh!" for something she wants
reading, reading, reading books all day
corn on the cob
pointing out her belly button, eyes, hair, and nose
we love you p. this past year has changed our lives in so many good ways, and we can't imagine our family without you. thanks for letting me love babies. happy one year!

happy birthday piper! you know that means we've been gone a year, now, too. sniff, sniff. it's amazing that i can still love her as much as soph, though. please bless one of my boys will marry her. here's to one more year!
do you REALLY cry? still can't picture that...
she's too cute! love the pictures!
Happy Birthday Piper! You sure are a sweet little thing!
OHH, Happy Birthday Piper!! Those pictures are just adorable. Cutest little sisters ever!
I believe that I deserve documentation of this supposed softer side of Kristen. Sarah and I don't believe it. ;)
And yes, I cute my hair, like 5 inches...I'm still too scared to just chop it. Maybe on baby number 3. :)
btw, i love her snaggle tooth.
I can't believe she is already 1! She is so darn cute! I love the picture collage! You seriously do the cutest stuff! I wish we lived closer so you could take our pictures :)
YAY Piper! That is so cool that she is already putting words together, and says 'hi dad'! Claire is just starting to do that. :)
Cute pictures, Kristen. Your girls are beautiful. And I love the snaggle tooth Pipester has. Very distinctive.
love the collage. i'm totally going to copy that and put it among my list of things that may or may not actually happen. :)
