plimoth in plymouth

this post is so incredibly overdue it's embarrassing. like, these pictures came from my july folder. but better late than never right?

the weekend piper was blessed (remember this?) we had landen's family visiting and took a little trip down to plymouth for the day.

plimoth plantation and the mayflower II to be exact.

and just to prove i'm spelling "plimoth" correctly (which is the old english version fyi)...

it was a pretty interesting place, lots to learn about the wampanoag & english colonists (aka: "pilgrims and indians"). they asked us to use the correct terms, but i couldn't really help it when i saw an injun runnin' off through the woods.

Photobucket

they really got into character and spoke like "englishmen."

awesome view down to the water from the top of the fort.

cute laurie

after waiting out a massive rain storm in the gift shop (mmmmm... fudge) it was onto the mayflower II and plymouth rock, where we had a "barrel o' fun" (sorry, i couldn't resist).

thar she blow

Photobucket

crows nest (we had the hardest time trying to figure out what this stupid thing was called last night)

Photobucket

landen fit right in

Photobucket

and so did i, can't you tell? i'm going for that sassy sailor with a baby look.

Photobucket

we weren't sure what these were, but they were super entertaining for a two year old.

this all overlooks plymouth harbor. i think when we leave massachusetts, this is the perfect picture of how i'll remember it by. clouds/grey skies, boats (probably sail boats) and trees.

Photobucket

thanks to the rain, we had a lot of puddle splashing to cover on our walk to plymouth rock. and i mean a lot. i think sophie splashed in every single puddle. landen was in charge of her that day. *wink

laurie was a good little model for me

Photobucket

ok are you ready for this? i was actually pretty surprised with the size of plymouth rock. i thought it was going to be a lot smaller, because of all the disappointments i had heard about. housed in this nice little "monument."

Photobucket

it's about the size of our love sac.

Photobucket

we came, we saw, we conquered.

Fun times, fun times! You definitely can't live here without being able to say that you did Plimoth.
