these girls

i'm writing this one-handed while i rock a baby in the other arm, and i'm really learning what it feels like to be a mom of two. that, and my kids are going to get nostalgic whenever they hear a keyboard clicking because it will be one of those comfort sounds from their childhood, being rocked to sleep. *smile*

big moment for me today.

i successfully went to the grocery store on my own with the girls. it was actually pretty uneventful, thankfully. when we go, sophie always has to ride in the "purple cart," which is a double decker rocket looking cart with two steering wheels. i love it too. it keeps her thoroughly entertained. i really need to get a picture of her in it someday. but now with piper hanging in the bjorn i'll have to bring my own photographer with me!
i'm learning how to "work" the grocery store to keep a toddler entertained. it goes like this...

-ride in the purple cart (and trust me she watches for it the second we turn into the parking lot)
-let her put all the produce in the bags
-get a piece of cheese at the deli
-get a cookie at the bakery (deli and bakery are at opposite ends so it's perfect timing)
-let her pick out a "special treat" that she can hold through the store and have IN THE CAR if she's a good girl.

so far so good! that is... when the baby sleeps the whole time.

so today we were picking out which fruit snacks she wanted. it's always been between dora and nemo (her favorite characters) because they are next to each other on the shelf. (wow! we are creatures of habit aren't we!?) she took an extremely long {silent} time deciding. she finally shouted "batman!" or at least her version of it, pointing to the batman fruit snacks. i was like, "seriously? you want the batman ones?" and she totally did responding, "batman!" i think i laughed for a good 30 seconds after that. her daddy would have been so proud.

so this picture represents our accomplishment as well as our new snack of choice!

our mornings, afternoons, and evenings usually look like this. you can find us on our "patio." i know i will always love this part of dental school.

see what i mean about the shades? totally did this one on her own and i have no idea where she learned to flip them up like that. i never do that. she must be naturally stylish.

i can't believe it's been five weeks today! P is still as sweet as ever.

she is growing too fast, pulling tricks like this on us. ok she's been doing it from week one, but it's my favorite way she looks at us.

she makes us laugh everyday.

trying to get inside. using the pouty lips to her advantage.
