not this year. probably not ever. i'm not really into the "scary" part of halloween. i prefer to decorate with pumpkins and leaves (think fall). it's probably my arachnophobia. but one of sophie's favorite things to say this month is,
"that's so spooooky!"
we went the disney route this year (thanks to my mom). no...
BIG THANKS TO MY MOM.
(you'd think i could have picked up some of those mad seamstress skills. too bad i was a stubborn child.)
and since sophie is highly obsessed with cinderelly these days (and all things princess... how did i think we could maybe by-pass that stage!?), my mom basically made her year.

the second she saw it come out of the package she immediately said,
"ohhhh. i needa wear my blue dress. i needa take my clothes off now."
she spent the next five hours gliding around the house in her dress. staring at the cinderella movie cover to make sure her headband, and choker, and puffy sleeves matched perfectly. and of course stealing glances in the full length mirror every few minutes. that night when she went to bed she said, "dad, i have puffy sleeves!"
and in the morning, "i needa wear my blue cinderelly dress now."

(please ignore my ugly tape up job... it was a little long and i don't hem. my mom's hem was much better looking)
if you only knew how much this girl hates clothes. the second we get home from anywhere she always asks to take her clothes off. every week, the second dance is over (tamsen as my witness) she wants everything off! so for sophie to want to wear something is a very big deal.

naturally, we chose gus-gus as her sidekick.

and i think they're pretty ok with that.

let's not forget how sophie reminded me, "mom i need pink whipstick like cinderelly's!"

we got her to keep her ears on by letting her run free outside.

(and of course forgot her green cap in all these pics)

she's kind of a free spirit.

and it's all about the tail.

oh and of course the belly. a little extra padding never hurts.

it's a bird. it's a plane. no...
it's a flying mouse!

we took advantage of the beautiful day. i'm going to miss this next week.

wait until gus-gus figures out that candy comes with the gig!

"duh, duh, happy birfday!"
jill, amazing job! i should have called you this year, too! love the costumes and the girlies. what's up with your summer weather out there, anyway?
oh, and calvin loves turning off all the lights, leaving only pumpkin lights on and asking everyone if they think it's "so spooky".
Your mom is amazing! Those costumes are perfect.
No, not perfect! I didn't get the length right and it looks like our little mouses hat is too small, ugh! That's why I need you to come live by me! :) They are cuter than cute though! Thanks for the pics!
cutest little cinderella i've ever seen! so dang cute. happy halloween!!
Maybe not so spooky, but SO CUTE! They're adorable. I love the Gus-Gus addition. Precious (and not in a Smeagol kind of way).
Your mom did a spectacular job. Moms are awesome in the many ways they save the day.
