sometimes i just want to be done with the whole apartment thing. the whole "i gotta run to the storage unit" to use my other stroller thing. the whole stuffed to the max on closet space and living out of totes thing. the whole 24 square feet of living room space that my girls have to run around in thing. the whole no yard thing. the whole no garage thing. the whole i can hear every conversation in my neighbors bedroom and bathroom thing.
and then i have to remember to be here now.

don't get me wrong. i'm one of the best complainers out there, but i don't want to take for granted what i have now. i don't want to always be thinking, "it'll be so much easier when..." i love our life here in boston. i know i'll miss the cleaning of a tiny apartment. the friends. the things to see and do. the time with just babies at home. the simplicity of it all.
just what was on my mind. sparked from me sitting in my girls room the other night staring at the massive wall 'o stuff. i thought i'd take a picture of our "food pantry." something to be documented about the way we live right now. it's in the corner of our girls' room. so if i need something out of there and p is taking a nap... well, i should have thought about it sooner.

(gotta love the giant zebra blanket hanging in the window to block out the sun)
then i realized, if you open the "pantry" door, closet door, and close the door to see the bookcase it looks a little... what's the word? CROWDED. i just started laughing at how much of our life is a puzzle piece right now. we obviously need to have a garage sale or something.

when i was little, my mom always had me organize every closet or shelf in our house. i was one of those weird kids that liked it. i can see how that comes in handy now.
just more around the house...
(ummm don't you love snooping around people's houses? maybe i'm weird like that.)
a little fall decorating. i love pumpkins. oh and september.

a new photo gallery wall. too much? i still don't know what i think about this. i mean i am slightly obsessed with pictures of my girls. love the foam board, so every time they knock one off... no harm done. and it's obviously time to dust at my house.

and there has been a lot of this lately. which i think landen rolls his eyes at every saturday morning. i think he considers one of my hobbies spray painting now. but at least i'm finishing projects right!? (no this is not an ad for krylon... hehe.)

and my little goons as i drove off to craft night. woot!
oh and my turquoise chair! pre-distressing.

i never get sick of that part of apartment living.

I love the foam board too. Your display is put together so nicely. I love it!
This post brought such a smile to my face. Just yesterday I was walking around our house thinking about how part of me misses our tiny two-bedroom apartment in Iowa. It sucked...a lot, but we were always close. Always within ear shot and eye shot of each other. I miss that. So I'm proud of you for loving the apartment stage, as much of a struggle it can be. And thanks for sharing the reminder with the rest of us. :)
i love everything about this post. i have too much to say about it so...that's all.
let's chat!
Your organization skills are amazing! I love it all! Someday you'll look back at apartment life with fond memories.
I love the reflection of you taking the picture of the goons! Yes, you always have been a wonderful organizer! Love the new pics and the pumpkins are so cute!
will you come organize my closets? really though, your work is inspiring :)
ha!!! Since I was like 8--I found myself organizing our pantry to de-stress. Too bad I didn't end up with your cute decorating ability--meh.
So I'm super late to the commenting party on this one, but I couldn't help myself. Honestly, your quote made me tear up a bit. Today I was walking around our new apartment saying over and over in my mind how much I hate it (it's quite a bit smaller than our last place). Then I read this, and it reminded me of all the wonderful things I have going, and that we do have to choose happiness, because it's dependent on mindset, not circumstance. So thanks for writing about it. (And I love the colors you're using to perk up your small but cute place. :))
