this is a little overdue. {like july 28th}. i've already lost my tan from this fun day, but it definitely deserves to be documented. my one regret: that i didn't get to spend a whole week running around taking pictures, playing on the beach, eating at all the fun little restaurants, and shopping in the quaint little antique stores that make cape cod so special. we'll definitely be back for more soon.
oh, cape cod.
this might be the one thing that drags me into saying i actually really like the east coast. it's a slow transition, ok?
i'll try and give you a taste of chatham town (thanks for the suggestion missy!)

landen is so good to let me run around snapping pictures while he pushes a stroller with a toddler and has a baby strapped to the front of him. he does get some good looks.
we grabbed a bag of saltwater taffy and added to our t-shirt collection
then it was off to lighthouse beach where we met up with our friends, the keyes, for a picnic and some play time.
right across from this little gem (still a functioning lighthouse)
and where one day, one of these ocean front properties will be mine. i can dream right?
we thought it was funny how people took their shoes off at the bottom of the stairs and left them like they were at someone's house. welcome home, come on in!
oh yeah, i take pictures of people too. like the little beach bums shoveling together. it was a hot day! don't you love the sandwich in one hand?
sophie would live at the beach if we let her. she asks almost every day, "beach? fwimming?" see that look of ultimate satisfaction?
the girls were all about fwimming (swimming)
while aiden was a little more into the digging aspect of the beach. at least he was the safe one.
safe and stuck that is!
tamsen and i both agreed, it's a good thing we have husbands who are just big kids, or our kids would get pretty bored.
piper was a trooper again in her little beach tent. it's hard work keeping a baby out of the sun on an open beach with no shade! she only had a little sand between her toes at the end of the day.
abby is a little feisty and has lots of funny {serious} facial expressions...
just taking it all in
and of course a fun day would not be complete without a little...

For some reason it makes me think of that movie A Walk to Remember....Even though I think that was more like North Carolina or something. And oh my gosh...Landen and Sophie are in the water! I always thought that if you swim in the east coast water a shark would eat you!
next time you go, we're coming with :)
did you go see the fishing boats? when we went to chatham i think the kids favorite part was going to watch the boats bring in their catch. it was in the afternoon. and there were seals swimming right there too. and i think the lighthouse tours were on wednesdays.
there's a red robin in chatham?? or did you stop in plymouth on the way back?
Missing the Cape is one of my MAJOR regrets! I know we will be back for a visit and it is on my list. Every time we wanted to go, something came up and was in the way! Amazing pictures as always! When is your next trip to the land of the HOT!?!
