sanity

one of those days. landen was gone from like 7am-7:30pm so sophie and i had a lot of "one-on-one" time. i actually don't even want to rethink the whole morning so i'll just copy and paste the email i wrote to landen during nap time. at least there was a nap time!

"we've had a rough morning. i can't take sophie to the mall. she hates the stroller and is getting really good at the high-pitched "my mom is murdering me right now" scream. it's embarrassing. followed by TWO episdoes of laying on the ground kicking and screaming high-pitched "my mom is murdering me right now" at wal-mart. inside AND outside. i was so mad i think i almost broke her arm off trying to pick her up. she was slung over my arm kicking and arching and drooling while the whole world looked at me like, "wow, and you're going to have another one?" and this is of course after she's already had 15 snacks and is still not satisfied. i yelled at her in the car and then we had a very SILENT car ride home. sophie had her head bowed down the whole time like her mom beats her or something and kept looking at me in the rearview mirror with the saddest face you've ever seen. we came inside and had a "talk" and then i cried. just a little but i've never been that frusterated with her before. she wouldn't eat lunch because of the previously mentioned 15 snacks, and all she wanted to do was watch "dogs." (all dogs go to heaven). i *think* she's sleeping in her bed right now... no wait, i just heard her. time to go tame the lion.

and there is this really annoying rhythmic pounding coming from somewhere in the building that has been going on for about 5 minutes now. i'm going to lay the smackdown on someone before i go crazy. seriously."

luckily the afternoon went much better. i actually cleaned my whole house. bathroom, windows, mopping, etc. thanks to this one jar of buttons. i should have taken a picture of the floor covered when she was done. so i guess it could have been worse.

things that kept me sane today: nap time, my mom's package (thanks mom), 7 layer bars (thanks liz), the button jar, talking to sarah on the phone, listening to jim gaffigan with landen right now in bed (try holiday traditions... i now have to pee from laughing so hard, ok AND the baby is punching my bladder), and sudafed that is slowly drugging me to sleep right now. i promise i really am sick. ;)

sunnyside up: tomorrow is supposed to be 71 degrees. thanks pete bouchard.

ugh. i'm so sorry for your bad day! i'm glad i'm not the only one who looses it with their 2 year old from time to time. they are so tricky at this age sometimes!! hang in there. thanks for sharing. i like how real and honest your posts are, and you're a darling mommy. soph sure is lucky. even if she doesn't think she is sometimes:)

This parenting thing is one of the toughest jobs I've ever had (and I've had a few "gems"). Who knew being a full-time mom instead of having a "job" was so much more than a full-time job?

BTW... Do these 7 layer bars work magic on cranky toddlers? Or do they have some special drug that just makes you forget your toddler is having a tantrum? Either way- it sounds like I need some myself!
