happily ever after

... or so we thought. it's more like the tale of how sophie's puke was spewed all over california, literally. sounds graphic? i know! i was usually the one spewed ON!

we'll start off with a happy picture though.

Photobucket

don't you like how sophie looks afraid of the sun? that's what massachusetts will teach you kids. stay away. ;)

so we drove to disneyland early early monday morning. like so early we were all crashed out again within 30 minutes. but when we weren't crashed out we were usually doing this...

man that thing was a time-wasting-life-saver the entire trip. i now have momo (finding nemo), and dorde (curious george) memorized word for word.

right after we crossed the california border up came the first round of throw-up from soph. first we thought it was just the hashbrowns from mcdonalds and the one-too-many blue sweetarts i kept feeding her. (i don't like the blue ones... good mom huh!?) i mean considering it was blue potatoes. we should have taken that as a clue to how she was really feeling though.

after waiting in quite the weaving line for it's a small world, we finally made it onto our first ride! UV protected and all.

i think sophie loved it. she held on the entire time and was totally mesmerized. this is also about 30 minutes before the second explosion though so i can't really be sure.
{i also now know how weird those sunglasses make me look. somewhat see-through is a little creepy!}

so we were standing in the lunch line at a restaurant trying to decide which salad we wanted when out of no where i was hit with a stream of you-know-what. right in the face, down my whole shirt, somehow missed the jeans, onto the shoes, and covering the floor. i was literally in shock for about 10 seconds, i couldn't even move, i didn't know what to do! luckily this nice man came and took us to the first aid center which was next door. i think we were making disneyland look bad by cleaning up puke in his restaurant though. ;)
so we got all cleaned up, were basically standing in our underwear and up came the third heave. this time down my shirt, down my back, and somehow still not covering my jeans. sophie's last undershirt layer was also covered. so while we cleaned up that mess, landen had to go buy us some sweet disneyland souvenir clothing. that's right. tinkerbell for both of us. poor little sickie. oh and one last little puke into a towel this time. yikes.

Photobucket

so yes i realize the view here is not the best but this summed up the rest of our day in the hotel room. lots of reading, movie watching, sprite/ice chip drinking, and sleep. 3 1/2 hour naps for all of us! we were a little bummed with the view to matterhorn mountain right outside our window! fifth heave of the night was right after i gave her a bath. she rolled her hair around in it, but we saved the clothes!

Photobucket

thank goodness for the bop to make it all better!
Photobucket

the second day was much better. one last puke in the morning in the stroller. last change of clothes and a good nap on the train seemed to do the trick! we finally got to see the gang a little!

we attempted the toy story ride at california adventure but after waiting 45 minutes in line they closed it for maintenance. bad luck! at least we got our fill of cotton candy and playing with dad! laurie was covered in pink!

and last but not least, soph, laurie and i got to watch the parade together while landen went on a "real ride" with the older kids. soph was showing baby minnie her poop face. pretty serious stuff.

you owe us one disneyland. until next time...

I'm so sorry the happiest place on earth ended up being a bit of a nightmare. It's pretty amazing how those first aid people seem to find you within seconds - Disneyland employees must have disaster training weekly.

Despite all this, you still managed to get some priceless photos! (I especially like the one of Sophie with your glasses on.)

Here's to hoping the next foray to the Magic Kingdom ends a little more like a fairy tale . . .

i know i've heard that story a few times now and i still read the whole thing. it's much more interesting with pictures, though! poor soph. and you. i am so, so glad you guys are back to cloudy/cold/snowy massachuesetts.

There should be a super mom sash with a badge for the "puke catcher" award. You'd almost have the whole front covered. No pun intended.
Those blue skies and green leaves sure look dreamy. You'll have to remind us all what it feels like to need sunglasses.

oh man, that is gross and sad at the same time but I know how sophie feels. I am glad she is better but you will never forget her first disneyland experiance.

Sophie looks so grown up in your glasses! I really feel for you and the throw up... it sounded really bad!

The only 2 times Ruthies has gotten the stomach flu were on vacation. Why is that!? But Disneyland, that is too bad!

Isn't it always when you travel, I know it is for my kiddos! It makes for one memorable Disney trip. I agree with G-retch they should have given you a sash! We are glad to have you back though, I wonder what my kids will say when we are back in the land of sun?

Oh my word, it just never stopped huh? Wow. We never got to this conversation while we chatted at playgroup! Thank goodness for the blogs or I wouldn't know what's up with anyone. Poor Soph, lil' sicky pooh girl!

Um... thanks for sharing??? Sounds ver different from a fairy tale but she's got an amazing story to tell someday! Hopefully your future trips to Disney will be better (if you can handle returning there at all)!

Poor Soph (and you). That sucks, but it looks like you had some fun and at least you got some souvenirs out of the whole ordeal, and 3 1/2 hour naps, that part sounds great:)

Well it looks like everyone had a great time at Disneyland. Everyone looks so happy to be there. Sophie is just getting cuter and cuter.
