frog pond it is

today {and probably tomorrow} was such a yucky, rainy, cold day here. well 72 feels cold after what we've been through. we did movies, shopping, lunch, movies... i've been watching step up like it's going out of style. why am i addicted to those movies!? well it's time for some much needed sunny pictures in our lives. {although i did feel a tinge ready for fall with that weather, after curling up in a rain storm/tornado warning and watching a movie. but my shorts haven't lived their full life yet.} that's why you are going to get so many!!

my friend liz (click on her name for more pics and ghetto soph) and i took the kids to the frog pond downtown last week. the day was sooo hot, so keeping everyone cool was top priority. not that the 6 inch deep swim hole roasting in the sun "keeps you cool" but we do what we can. i loved the frogs sitting at the entrance to the pond. so did sophie and calvin...
ahhh... don't you love capturing those moments? and THAT is exactly why i take a thousand pictures!
stepping on the lilypads with purple toes
so while sophie watched from the sidelines {which is what she always does... assume the position and facial expressions)...
calvin actually ran through the fountain. and what a cute little pose he makes as well.
who doesn't love some knobby knees?
k so this dumb guy was actually making me so mad. he decided to sit RIGHT behind sophie after i was already taking pictures of her, and watch us the entire time knowing full well he was in my way. see all the extra space next to him? some people. can you tell sophie is into pointing at everything?
another one of those "assume the position." why is my child so afraid of water?
k so liz captured these next two. i like this because you can actually see how big this place is (and this isn't even half of it). and right in the middle of the city- so cool! thank you boston.
i also love this one because, like always, sophie is telling calvin "i'm always watching." and she really is.
so after our probably extremely unsanitary dip in the frog pond (i didn't complain more than once though did i liz?) we made our way to the public garden. two of my favorite things here are the willows lining the pond and the cool bridge going over it. really it always reminds me of a movie. i think i'd like to kiss on that bridge. ;)
and then we were onto the swan boats. i feel bad for the guys having to pedal us around the lake! don't worry... we checked out their legs. also kind of dreamy (the swans not the legs) don't you think? and patriotic.
i like this picture of liz and calvin. so concentrated. and we always have a kid at our side don't we?

ok so you get a bonus post in a post! this whole post reminded me of the last time we went on a walk downtown (way back in april)... and it also reminded me how i never posted any of those pictures! so i had a little reminiscing with my pictures, and i'll just share a few. i think liz has some on her blog too.
one of my favorite places now. this is the inside of the boston public library. it's like a little open oasis in the middle of the city. i completely fell in love!

this is boston common... more of a wintery feel here!
and the same pond in the public garden
we are loving all the fun things to see and do around boston!

Thanks for the WONDERFUL picture- laden post!! I LOVED it! Looks like you had a great time at the frog pond. Sorry I kept them away for so long, Liz! The picture of Sophie "looking on" reminds me of her mother. Truly like mother like daughter there! Miss you like crazy!

So cute! I love the shot of Calvin kissing the frog, Soph's an absolute doll as always, and the pics of the swan boats are so classic!

You, Liz, Cal and Soph are such a snazzy set. Isn't it great to have friends with the same exact lifestyle? That adds alot to the relationship. I love your photo skills. I am always impressed.
