there and back

i always feel like trips to see family are too short! we made it home from arizona at about 1:30 this morning. i think we're learning how much work traveling with a baby is! sophie was so good on all the flights & drives this weekend. we have a good little traveler. (thanks to liz and her bjorn... i'm so getting one). landen's grandma tenney passed away last weekend so we were able to attend her funeral on saturday. it was such a nice service and a great way to remember her life with lots of special family time. sophie and i got to meet lots of family! i think soph loved all of the attention from her aunts.
we also got to see derek and colette's sweet baby micah. what a little miracle baby he is! we loved our visit with them. sunday we got together with some friends in mesa who also had babies this summer (or are expecting!). we could not believe how big their cute boys bromley and hayden were! yes sophie is double in age although you would never know!
landen and i both felt like sophie kind of grew up a little bit more on this trip. i don't know if it's because "6 months" is this week or just because she is now a world class traveler but something happened. she had a lot of "firsts" this past weekend.

i think this drool was trying to give us a preview of what was to come...
her first tooth! yes it's hiding under her tongue while she tries to bite my finger off. i think it's a little camera shy but i'm sure we'll capture a picture soon.
sophie discovered grass for the first time...

how can you not love these sweet moments?

and she has become quite the "sitter"-

we also found out we can keep sophie pretty happy with a cup of ice and some airplane "snacks." she was loving it!
and last but not least (i'm sure you're thinking... how many pictures can they possibly take of this child!?) our little scare on sunday night. we went to check on sophie sleeping and found that she had clawed at her face. this was after i wiped up all the blood on her face and clothes. little stinker had a teeny little scratch on her nose. you can tell by that smile she is a tough one.
i just realized landen didn't make it into any of these pictures so i'm adding this scrimpy family picture...

You have such a beautiful family! Sophie is just a doll. Lilly sure had fun smiling at her. It is amazing how fast time flies! It was good to see you guys this past weekend. Wish it could have been more favorable circumstances though. Next time you're down this way, we should meet up. You can check out our blog at robnatfrancisfamily.blogspot.com (although it is NOT updated! - I'll get there eventually).

I think you have a self-mutilator on your hands. Keep an eye on her!

Six months goes by fast. Something cute we are going to start doing is the half birthday cake. You bake a round cake, cute it in half, put one half on top of the other, frost it and presto you have a half birthday cake. And okay yes it is creepy I read your blog. I realize that but your baby is adorable! If you ever want to peak at mine to make sure I'm not completely psycho our generic user name we made for our untech savvy grandparents is familyslade@gmail.com with the password EzraandGrace.

Ah... the tooth picture taking addiction begins. Don't worry. You're not the first parents to become camera obsessed and digital makes life that much more fun to capture.

Glad the trip went well with Sphie. Meant to ask when I saw you yesterday and totally blanked! =)

Kri I'm so sorry to hear about Landen's grandma. Not a fun reason to fly--but at least you got to spend time with all his fam that you normally wouldn't get! Keep the Sophie pictures coming--you can never post too many!!!
