we finally pulled into quincy last night around 11:30...thank goodness! we had a big morning full of sightseeing new york. niagara falls was beautiful...
we actually had kind of a funny experience in palmyra. we seemed to be the only visitors at the church history sites. the hill cumorah pageant had just ended saturday so there were tons of construction workers all over the hill taking down the big structures. we had to kind of walk through them to get up the hill while they all stared at us. yes we felt awkward... and laughed at ourselves as we pushed sophie up the huge hill. we took a little tour at the joseph smith farm and onto the sacred grove- again by ourselves, haha. but we were really glad we were able to see everything.
we also saw the palmyra temple, it was a mini and the flowers were gorgeous!
this morning we were able to see our apartment- two words: love it! we were a little bit anxious but it turned out to be super nice. everything is brand new and we are getting the rest of our appliances in on friday when we can move in. for now we are lounging at a hotel that our manager put us up in until the apartment is finished. oh and the view out to home depot is now covered by some nice landscaped rocks... not to worry. :) sophie seems to be enjoying the hotels...
we drove around quincy for about an hour, trying to familiarize ourselves with the new town. lets just say it's going to take some getting used to! the east coast is nothing like the easy gridded streets of utah. the town is super cute- lots of cape cod style houses and little shops, very quaint AND crammed on top of each other. i don't know how people ever get used to that. with crazy one ways and roads jutting out in every direction i'm sure we'll look like the "out of towners" for awhile! there aren't a lot of "chain" restaurants and things like that so it has a different feel, but landen spotted an outback so he is pretty happy about that! tomorrow we are going to attempt the "t"- that's the subway here- to go into boston and check out the dental school. off on our little adventure!
